therapy

Mary offers both face to face and Telehealth options for individual therapy. All individual therapy sessions, including initial sessions, are 50 minutes in length. An exception to the above, may be in the event of a specific trauma-processing modality (such as EMDR) being collaboratively agreed upon as part of the therapeutic journey. In this case sessions are likely to be to 90 minutes (as negotiated by prior agreement). Longer sessions are invoiced at a higher rate.

Medicare rebates are available through a referral from your GP or psychiatrist, under a Mental Health Treatment Plan (see below for further information). No referral is required if you do not wish to obtain a Mental Health Treatment Plan and prefer to pay privately. Mary currently offers face to face services only in Margaret River (Wooditup) or Telehealth for those based Australia-wide.

Fees for both in-person and telehealth appointments (50 minutes) are listed below:

Individual Therapy (50 mins): $260

Medicare rebate (as of July 2024): $141.85

Out of Pocket: $118.15

The full session fee is payable on the day. The Medicare rebate is processed separately and paid into the bank account details provided to Medicare.

FAQS

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment please provide a minimum of 48 hours notice (2 business days). This allows the chance to fill the cancellation with clients who are waitlisted. Kindly note a full cancellation fee of $260 is charged for less than 48-hour notice or missed appointments (this is not rebatable nor funded by DVA).

  • $260 per session with a $141.85 Medicare rebate leaving $118.15 out of pocket (as of July 2024).

Mary is a registered Medicare provider. Medicare provides the above rebate per session for clients who are referred by their GP or a psychiatrist for treatment of a mental health disorder under the Australian Government's Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative. Your GP will need to prepare a Mental Health Treatment Plan before referring you to a psychologist for treatment.

Under the Mental Health Treatment Plan you can receive up to 10 individual sessions in a calendar year.

Please note that referrals cannot be provided by your GP for the full 10 sessions. A first GP referral is for a maximum of six sessions. Your referring GP will then assess your progress after the six sessions and refer for a further four sessions if needed.

  • Mary can see clients whose NDIS plan is self-managed or plan managed only, as she is not a registered provider for NDIS. Please refer to National Disability Insurance Scheme for more information.

  • Fee: $260

Private clients (clients who self refer) may be eligible for rebates for psychological services under a private health fund (if insured).

Please be aware that clients cannot use private health insurance to cover the remainder (gap) from their Medicare rebated session. Clients must decide whether they would like to use Medicare or Private Health Insurance to cover part of their psychological services.
