Introducing Loom Wellness

Introducing Loom Wellness

In a fast-paced world often marked by disconnection and overwhelm, finding spaces where genuine connection, safety, and self-discovery can unfold is both rare and needed. At Loom Wellness, we offer just that—a sanctuary where evidence-based clinical psychology, emerging therapeutic approaches, and time-honoured practices like mindfulness and nature connection are interwoven with the intention of enhancing and optimising our clients’ wellbeing.

Our name, Loom Wellness, reflects our guiding philosophy - much like it takes many individual threads to create a tapestry, various relationships, seasons, and unique life experiences are often intricately woven together to foster a resilient, rich, and meaningful life. We believe that crafting Well-Being is not necessarily a linear, objective goal but rather a constant, dynamic, and creative practice which involves consistent tending and is intrinsically connected to our relationship with both ourselves and others.

the philosophy behind Loom Wellness

Our philosophy and ethos is informed by a rich tapestry of thought leaders across psychology, nature-based practices, and integrative therapy:

  • Contemporary researcher, Miles Richardson, reminds us of the innate human need to connect with nature for psychological restoration and emotional resilience. At Loom, we often invite clients to lean into or use fresh ways to rediscover this essential bond with the natural environment.

  • Inspired by Arne Naess’s deep ecology, we acknowledge that true wellness extends beyond individual health to include harmony with the ecosystems that sustain us. This philosophy permeates some of our current understanding of the inter-relationship between humans and the natural world, and is supported by much of the current and emerging nature-connection research.

  • The transformative teachings of C.G. Jung have encouraged our exploration of the unconscious mind, symbolic imagery, and personal myth-making as essential to some personal and culturally-informed journeys toward meaning-making, purpose, and self-actualisation.

  • We admire and draw from Peter Levine’s understanding of trauma to support clients to navigate trauma-related symptoms and foster greater resilience and self-regulation.

  • From Richard Schwartz’s Internal Family Systems (IFS), we borrow a compassionate lens that honours the complexity of the human psyche, and the value of understanding traumatised systems as being devastated into fragmented parts and thus the importance of utilising therapeutic approaches that support building inner harmony and integration.

  • The teachings of Kristin Neff and Tara Brach on self-compassion and mindfulness, empower clients to cultivate kindness toward themselves even in the face of suffering.

  • Finally, we recognise the importance of adaptive, relational intimacy, as emphasised by Terrence Real. We support clients in fostering authentic, connected relationships that nurture both personal growth and relational harmony.

interweaving therapeutic practices

At Loom, our unique approach means that no two client journeys look the same. Instead, we tailor our therapy offerings to each individual, drawing from a diverse toolkit of practices which include:

  • Clinical Psychology: Grounded in evidence-based approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance, commitment therapy (ACT), schema (ST) and Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR).

  • Somatic practices: Gentle body-based interventions to support increased regulation, manage trauma-related symptoms, and restore nervous system balance.

  • Mindfulness & self-compassion: Guided practices to cultivate present-moment awareness and self-acceptance.

  • Nature connection: Encouragement to engage with nature to support restoration, regulation of the nervous system, and optimise mindful and intentional living.

  • Relational tools: Emphasising new ways to enhance communication, intimacy, and relational resilience.

transcending trauma, suffering, and adversity and enhancing wholeness & connection

Our mission at Loom Wellness is to help humans not just survive but thrive. We believe that by weaving together evidence-based therapies, emerging modalities, and timeless wisdom, we can support individuals in moving beyond trauma and adversity toward lives of purpose, connection, and joy.

As Jung wrote, "the privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are". At Loom, we are often privileged to walk alongside our clients for a season of this ongoing journey.

Essentially, Loom aims to offer an interdisciplinary approach to therapy, integrating evidence-based practice, nature connection research, and mindfulness approaches to support our clients toward achieving a more integrated sense of themselves and their story.
